In the second bit of Luke Cage casting news for today, Deadline reports that Simone Missik (Ray Donovan, Everything I Did Wrong in My 20s) will play the female lead role of “Missy,” who will actually be an incarnation of Marvel Comics character, Misty Knight.

In the source material, Misty is a former NYPD officer who loses her arm in the line of duty, and is given a vibranium (the same metal as Captain America’s shield) one by Tony Stark as a replacement.

Whether something like that happens on the show remains to be seen, but she will apparently still be a cop, and will reluctantly team with Mike Colter’s Cage to take down the bad guys: Alfre Woodard as a variation on Black Mariah, and the new addition of Theo Rossi as Shades.

Luke Cage will also feature Rosario Dawson, reprising her Claire Temple role from Daredevil. The show has Cheo Hodari Coker on board as executive producer and showrunner, but no director has been announced yet.
