That’s the name of Empire’s newly-unveiled magazine, which promises an in-depth study of the “golden age of cinematic television,” beginning with Luke Cage season 2.

Currently scheduled to arrive via Netflix on June 22nd, the Marvel superhero drama is expected to up the ante for its sophomore installment with a darker story and “a lot more fighting.” That’s not all that surprising, really, considering showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has carved out room for Danny Rand’s Iron Fist, a character who forms the world-famous Heroes for Hire alongside the walking powerhouse that is Luke Cage.

And make no mistake, it looks certain that Coker and his team have made a conscious effort to tighten everything up for Luke Cage season 2. In the following preview, you’ll notice that Pilot TV alludes to the fact that the Mike Colter-fronted series left a lot of room for improvement after its debut, and that’s an opportunity Cheo Hodari Coker isn’t about to waste.

The first issue of Pilot TV will be available from April 5th – just in time for Luke Cage‘s return to Netflix this summer – so expect plenty of coverage about Power Man in the coming weeks.

Pilot TV is the first magazine of its kind, anywhere in the world: a magazine dedicated to the life-consuming world of cinematic TV. These are shows with the budget, scale, scope, production values, filmmaking talent and storytelling chops only previously found on the big screen. It’s a whole new world, and you’re not going to want to navigate it without us.

On the casting front, Luke Cage has beefed up its ensemble with the likes of Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi as the sly, sinister Shades, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis and Marvel mainstay Rosario Dawson, whose Claire Temple has also been confirmed for Daredevil season 3.

But now that Jessica Jones season 2 is officially out in the wild, Marvel and Netflix’s superhero division is about to welcome the second installment of Luke Cage on June 22nd. And in keeping with tradition, it’ll stretch for 13 episodes in total.
