Harlem’s bulletproof hero is back, back, back as Marvel and Netflix have today rolled out the first-look teaser for Luke Cage season 2, which is due to begin its 13-episode saga on June 22nd.

As for this 20-second snippet, it features a riled-up Cage (Mike Colter) addressing New York City and, more specifically, its criminal underworld directly: “You wanna test me – step up. I’m right here!”

There’s also news of a “formidable new foe” that Power Man must confront. He won’t do so alone, of course, as leaked set photos showed his fellow Defender, Danny Rand (AKA the Immortal Iron Fist) leaping into battle, while below you’ll also find a shot of Simone Missick’s Misty Knight, who can be seen wielding a bionic arm after her nasty run-in with Elektra.

For more, here’s the official plot summary:

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Also on board for this hotly-anticipated sophomore run are Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi as the villain we love to hate (read: Shades), Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis and Marvel mainstay Rosario Dawson, whose Claire Temple has also been confirmed for Daredevil season 3.

As for Harlem, the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage will be with us on June 22nd. Closer to home, the studio’s TV arm is about to launch another installment of Jessica Jones (March 8th), which tells us that we may well get three or even four Marvel-backed Netflix series before the year’s end.
