Throughout the years, the Arrowverse has flirted with Green Lantern lore, but it’s yet to formally introduce any sort of ringslinger to the fold. Seeing as how this is one of the few major boxes the DC TV shared continuity has yet to check off, one would hope that it be achieved before long.
Believe it or not, Supergirl may very well get that honor because, as it turns out, episode 4.05 will be titled “Parallax.” That’s right, Sam Witwer’s Agent Liberty won’t be the only one to cause headaches for Kara Zor-El and those closest to her come this fall.
If you’ll remember, Parallax was the chief antagonist in 2011’s Green Lantern, where the very embodiment of fear was voiced by Clancy Brown. Granted, that movie didn’t go over so well with many viewers, but the villain’s depiction did stick rather close to the source material – even if his appearance was markedly different.
Should Parallax decently factor into Supergirl‘s fourth season, that makes us wonder whether this’ll open the door for lightsmiths representing Sector 2184, or if the series is just appropriating rogues from other comic books. Don’t forget, Arrow has borrowed a heck of a lot from Batman.
Right now, I can’t help recalling when Kara herself was a Red Lantern during the days of the New 52, so this new development could yield many exciting storytelling possibilities. Ultimately, it’s up to DC and WB as to what the producers can and can’t use, but fingers remain crossed.
Supergirl returns for its fourth season on Sunday, October 14 on The CW. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the usual place below!
