The Mandalorian May Feature The Return Of A Star Wars Rebels Character

Earlier this week, Lucasfilm’s upcoming The Mandalorian was rendered a fair bit less mysterious when StarWars.com released a cast list for the first ever live-action Star Wars TV series. According to the site’s source, the tech used for the show’s VFX is incorporating the design of the helmet of one Sabine Wren. This Mandalorian warrior was a character in Star Wars Rebels, and since that series was set years before the events of the Original Trilogy, and The Mandalorian is reportedly set five years after, you can imagine she’ll have aged a fair amount if she does make an appearance in the new project.

Nonetheless, the use of her helmet has got fans wondering if Sabine will be one of the major characters in the series, with one suggestion being that she’ll be played by Gina Carano. At the same time, it isn’t even clear if Sabine’s helmet will actually feature in the saga at all, with Making Star Wars suggesting that it could just be a placeholder. All in all, the whole situation seems shrouded in uncertainty, so perhaps it’s best to wait for further evidence before we go too far in our Rebels crossover theories.

In the meantime, another recent report offered some alleged intel on the show’s story, suggesting that the plot will revolve around Pedro Pascal’s character fighting to save the life of a child he was sent to kill. It’s an idea that’s still awaiting confirmation, but as we move into the year of The Mandalorian’s release, hopefully we won’t have too long to wait before Lucasfilm comes out with their next round of details.
