Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series A.K.A. Jessica Jones has just gained three new cast additions, in the form of The Originals’ Eka Darville, The Kings of Summer actress Erin Moriarty, and Red Widow‘s Wil Traval.

Based on the initial casting report, the trio won’t be taking on roles of pre-established comic book characters, but will instead play smaller supporting parts. However, the character descriptions are just vague enough to suggest that maybe there’s more here than meets the eye, so I wouldn’t rule out any ties to the source material just yet.

Darville will play Malcolm, a neighbor to Jessica Jones “whose own journey will intertwine with her quest in a surprising way.” As for Moriarty, she’ll play a girl named Hope who becomes a client at Jones’ detective agency, Alias Investigations, and Traval will play an NYPD cop who “takes ‘protect and serve’ very seriously.”

The threesome are joined by Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, David Tennant as Kilgrave, Rachel Taylor as Patricia “Trish” Walker and Carrie-Ann Moss in an unspecified role.

A.K.A. Jessica Jones lacks a concrete release date, but is expected to hit Netflix later this year.
