Marvel Offers Up New Sneak Peek Of Cloak & Dagger

Along with announcing a premiere date - June 7th - Marvel has given us an extended look at their upcoming TV show Cloak & Dagger.

Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen) and Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone Johnson) become Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger in today’s exciting new sneak peek for the coming-of-age superhero story – which we now know will premiere on June 7th at 8pm ET.

Bursting with young romance and teenage angst, the live-action Cloak & Dagger comes to us courtesy of showrunner Joe Pokaski (Underground, Heroes), who will tell the tale of Tandy (Dagger) and Tyrone (Cloak), as they each struggle to come to terms with their superhuman abilities and keeping them under control – which is exactly what the footage above teases.

The two characters are, in essence, the polar opposites of each other; Holt’s Tandy Bowen can emit blinding light daggers on a whim, while Tyrone “Ty” Johnson harbors an ability that allows him to engulf others in darkness. Together, they form an alliance (and romance?) to tackle crime and the city’s underground drug trade.

Also starring Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito and J.D. Evermore, here’s the official logline:

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

Cloak & Dagger‘s inaugural season will premiere with a two-hour episode via Freeform on June 7th, when Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) will helm the pilot. It’s still early days, but we can safely say that the show is shaping up nicely and we’re certainly eager to see a little more from it – which we’ll no doubt get the chance to do in the months to come.
