Netflix Boss Teases “Fantastic” Premiere Episode Of Stranger Things Season 2

It didn’t take long before Netflix realized it had a bona fide hit on its hands with Stranger Things. In fact, as we learned soon after the online giant ordered a second season of the nostalgic phenomenon, co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer had been secretly mapping out the future of Hawkins, Indiana long before season 2 was made official.

It’s part of the reason why Stranger Things is so far along in development. Earmarked for a timely Halloween premiere, we’ve already caught a glimpse of season 2 in action thanks to that all-too-brief Super Bowl teaser and since then, budding fans have been combing through each and every frame in the search for secrets and potential plot points. Speculation aside, two members of the Netflix team that have clocked eyes on Stranger Things season 2 are co-founder Reed Hastings and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, and the latter has now delivered his verdict.

Spoilers: it’s “fantastic,” according to Sarandos, who told NME (via Digital Spy) that after viewing season 2’s premiere episode, he’s overly confident that the show’s sophomore outing can deliver on “everything that every fan wants.” It’s a bold call, particularly given the heightened expectations, but only time will tell whether Stranger Things can prove the naysayers wrong.

“I have just seen the first episode of season two. It’s fantastic – it delivers on everything that every fan wants. We have a sense that it’s going to be really big.”

Stranger Things returns for a second season this Halloween. It’ll run a little longer than the inaugural season – up one episode from the original eight – and eagle-eyed viewers believe Matt and Ross Duffer will once again cite Dungeons & Dragons as a potential plot point.
