The last time we paid a visit to Central City, Barry Allen had made his first trip forward in time and witnessed Savitar murder Iris West. When season 3 of The Flash returns to The CW, it’s going to be his mission to stop that from ever coming to pass, but it sounds like there will be a lot of other things also happening in the Scarlet Speedster’s life.

According to The Flash co-showrunner Aaron Helbing, the Fastest Man Alive will do everything in his power to save his girlfriend and future wife, while Julian – who was possessed by Savitar and unwittingly masquerading as Dr. Alchemy – will also help lend a hand to “make amends” for his past actions. So, we’re going to be getting a new member of the team, then.

Barry’s going to need all the help he can get, too, especially as there’s so much going on with his friends. Helbing says that there are “big, exciting plans” in place for Caitlin due to her newfound abilities and possibly inevitable transformation into Killer Frost, while Cisco looks set to find a “very strong adversary” in the “badass” new character Gypsy. She’ll also be someone “he can’t stop thinking about,” but he may need to, as the team will have to deal with a Kid-Flash who ends up speeding into action “a little half-cocked.”

The Flash will be back on our screens later this month, so expect more to be revealed over the next few weeks.
