Nick Nolte Joins The Cast Of The Mandalorian

Not every piece of news I get to report on gets a 'hell yeah!' and a little fist pump out of me, but Nick Nolte being officially confirmed to appear in Jon Favreau's Star Wars series The Mandalorian? Hell yeah! *righteous fist pump* I have no idea what he's going to be doing in that galaxy far far away, but given his usual roles, it's probably safe to assume he's going to be some barely sane space hobo living way off the fringes of space-society.

The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporterthough they’re tight-lipped about any further details. It leaves The Mandalorian with an increasingly impressive array of talent behind it though, both in front of and behind the cameras. After all, we already know that Pedro Pascal will be playing the lead role in the show (presumably as the titular Mandalorian), Gina Carano will co-star and it’s also strongly rumored that Carl Weathers will be making an appearance.

On top of that, we’ve also got Jon Favreau (who’s set to have a busy 2019 with this and The Lion King on his plate) and Dave Filoni as executive producers. Not to mention Lucasfilm’s brought on Filoni to direct as well, who’s already worked on The Clone Wars and Rebels, along with Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard (who’s proved her directing mettle on Solemates), Rick Famuyiwa of Dope and Deborah Chow of Jessica Jones. Plus, we’ve recently heard confirmation that ILM will be doing the show’s effects, which is a good indication that this won’t just be a cut-rate version of the universe seen on the big screen.

There’ve already been numerous leaks from the ongoing shoot, so with any luck, we’ll get to see Nick Nolte in character on set at some point. Let’s just hope The Mandalorian will allow him to be as insanely entertaining as he is at his best.
