Married onscreen and off, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally will be joining the fourth and final season of the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.
The two have already worked together on Parks and Recreation, where Offerman played the anti-government government worker Ron Swanson, and Mullally played his somewhat sex-crazed ex-wife Tammy. Their relationship will be somewhat more conservative in The Umbrella Academy, with Mullally telling Entertainment Tonight that they will be “a mild-mannered married couple named Jean and Gene, who are college professors.”
There had been rumors about their casting floating around for some time though, and even though Mullally admitted “the deal’s not quite closed,” she also added that they were set to start filming “in a couple of weeks.”
Offerman is recently coming off of the buzz that was created from his role in The Last of Us, which had fans around the globe struggling not to break down in tears. His own wife admitted to getting upset over the episode starring her husband, but that the response has since been phenomenal,
“We had a lot of fun with it because he’s been getting, like, a really good response from, you know, everybody. And so, I started calling him ‘Episode Three.’ I just call him ‘Episode Three’ around the house.”
Before you see them both together in The Umbrella Academy, you can catch them in Party Down, a sitcom revival that premieres on Starz tomorrow. Mullally has a recurring role with Offerman acting as a guest star alongside the likes of Quinta Brunson, James Marsden, and Bobby Moynihan.
Seen as production is only just getting underway for the final season of the hit Netflix series, there has been no official release date, with many predicting it could land between December of 2023 and June of 2024.
