‘No below the belt’: Ubah Hassan on advice she received about being a ‘RHONY’

Imagine knowing someone who was once in the same boat as you.

Starring in a reality TV show can be intimidating, especially if it’s something as big as The Real Housewives of New York City. Fortunately, a RHONY newcomer received some helpful advice from someone who was once in the same boat as her back in 2022.

Ubah Hassan may not personally know anyone from the previous seasons, but she does have connections from another Real Housewives show. During an interview with People Magazine, Hassan revealed that she is the cousin of Chanel Ayan from The Real Housewives of Dubai. Hassan shared the advice Ayan gave her when she learned that she was going to be on the show, which was to be herself and “don’t be a doormat.” She also told Hassan to not aim “below the belt” since “she’s a woman.”

“She just said, ‘No below the belt, you’re a woman, but don’t be a doormat. You know who you are.’ I was like, ‘Okay, yeah.’ She just was like, you know, ‘Be yourself and hope for the best.'”

The advice given to her was spot on, especially given Hassan’s career and background. According to People, she is a model, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. This lifestyle is also reflected on her Instagram, where she is seen strutting the streets while running her own hot sauce business.

Season 14 of The Real Housewives of New York City features a new set of housewives and is described as a “series reboot” since there are no connections to the original cast. People also reported that a reunion special could not be produced due to scheduling challenges, and Bravo was disappointed that it was unable to bring the cast back together.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs at 9pm ET on Bravo and is available to stream on Peacock.
