Here’s The Opening Scene Of Fear The Walking Dead

While anticipation is certainly high for Fear the Walking Dead, AMC's companion series to their juggernaut zombie show, The Walking Dead, the general consensus doesn't seem to be overly positive. Premiering this Sunday, fans of Robert Kirkman's zombie infested world will certainly be tuning in, but early reviews state that the show is a bit more slow paced and takes its time in getting to the good stuff.

While anticipation is certainly high for Fear the Walking Dead, AMC’s companion series to their juggernaut zombie show, The Walking Dead, the general consensus doesn’t seem to be overly positive. Premiering this Sunday, fans of Robert Kirkman’s zombie infested world will certainly be tuning in, but early reviews state that the show is a bit more slow paced and takes its time in getting to the good stuff.

Our very own Isaac Feldberg had the following to say in his review:

It’s admirable how boldly Fear The Walking Dead establishes itself as a subtler, slower burn than its guts-and gore-filled predecessor, but the shambling pace may end up testing the patience of more restless viewers.

For those who don’t know, the show is a prequel, with the story focusing on a family living in Los Angeles, where “strange events start to complicate their life.” So, don’t expect to be jumping into the zombie action right away, as that apparently doesn’t come about till a bit later. Fear the Walking Dead is set in the earliest days of the outbreak, so the gravity of the situation isn’t realized until later on.

Nevertheless, AMC is hoping you’ll stick with the show through its slow burn, and today, to heighten the anticipation, they’ve dropped the opening scene from the premiere. While we do get to see a Walker, apparently it’s the only one we’ll see for a while, as the show takes its time building up. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, it’s more just a question of if viewers will have the patience that will be required.

Starring Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alicia Debnam-Carey, Fear the Walking Dead will creep onto television screens this Sunday. Check out the clip below and let us know if you’ll be tuning in.
