The Original Ghostface Mask Returns In New Scream: Resurrection Photos

Having already received a variety of trailers and clips pertaining to Scream: Resurrection, one could say we've been due for a photo gallery. I mean, promotional stills were bound to surface at some point, but it's not crazy to think diehard fans of the enduring slasher franchise were starting to get antsy.

Having already received a variety of trailers and clips pertaining to Scream: Resurrection, one could say we’ve been due for a photo gallery. I mean, promotional stills were bound to surface at some point, but it’s not crazy to think diehard fans of the enduring slasher franchise were starting to get antsy.

Now that we have less than a week to go until the bloodbath begins, VH1 have let loose the visual evidence. That’s right, it’s important that none of you forget how the series has a new home, as the party has moved from MTV to VH1. In my view, it’s actually befitting of the situation, as the aptly titled Resurrection appears to be closer in tone to Wes Craven’s flicks and abandons the storyline established by the first two seasons; new ballgame, new network.

As you peruse the slideshow below, you’ll find yourself better acquainted with the latest group of teenagers to be tormented by someone wearing the iconic Ghostface mask. And yes, it’s the original one, as opposed to the Brandon James headgear. Just don’t get too attached to everyone because odds are that a few of them won’t make it out alive.

What’s further intriguing about this new telling of the tale is that it’s a young man being found at the epicenter of the carnage this time around. Previously, it was Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott receiving unwanted phone calls in the films, with Willa Fitzgerald’s Emma Duvall making a run for it on the aforementioned MTV show. Now, it’s R.J. Cyler’s Deion Elliot who’s not getting sleep anytime soon.

Joining Cyler are castmates Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Paris Jackson, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, Tyga, C.J. Wallace and Giullian Yao Gioiello. They’re the other folks you’ve seen pictured here today, in case you were wondering.

Scream: Resurrection kicks off on Monday, July 8th and ends on Wednesday, July 10th on VH1. All six episodes will air, two at a time, with a 9pm Eastern starting time on each evening.
