The first official images have been released from next week’s midseason premiere of The Flash, and they offer up a very intriguing look at what’s to come when the hit series returns. There aren’t a lot of actions scenes (or even a glimpse at the recently cast Turtle), but it’s clear that romance is coming to Central City on Tuesday.

Here’s the synopsis for the episode – titled “Potential Energy” – courtesy of The CW:

JOE AND IRIS GET TO KNOW WALLY — Now that they’ve grown closer, Barry (Grant Gustin) considers telling Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) that he is The Flash. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) try to get to know Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), and the team hunts down a meta-human who can slow time itself. Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Bryan Q. Miller.

As you can see, it definitely appears as if Jay Garrick and Caitlin Snow will be embarking on a relationship, while things are still going well between Barry and Patty. Talking of relationships, Wally West is going to be getting much closer with his newly discovered father and sister, too.

With all of that in mind, this definitely looks set to be a strong way to kick off the second half of this season of The Flash.
