Well, another episode of Doctor Who season 11 is now in the books as “Kerblam!” has just aired and after the heavy, emotional “Demons of the Punjab,” it made for a bit of a refreshing change of pace and provided viewers with another very enjoyable hour of the sci-fi series. And it looks like the momentum will keep up next week, too, as we’ve got “The Witchfinders” to look forward to now.

The eighth installment of this current season will see Alan Cumming guest star as King James I (check him out in the gallery below) and given its title, you can probably already guess what it’ll be about. If not, though, we’ve got the very first promo up above along with the following plot summary, which promises another exciting adventure to come.

“The Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz arrive in 17th century Lancashire and become embroiled in a witch trial, run by the local landowner. As fear stalks the land, the arrival of King James I only serves to intensify the witch hunt. But is there something even more dangerous at work? Can the Doctor and friends keep the people of Bilehurst Cragg safe from all the forces that are massing in the land?”

Though the trailer at the top of the page doesn’t reveal a whole lot, seeing the Doctor and her crew travel back to this particular time period should be a lot of fun, even if it looks to be a bit of a darker episode than usual. It’ll also be nice to see Cumming guest star, as he’s no stranger to Who.

In fact, he’s even been asked to play the lead role on two separate occasions. And though he turned down the BBC each time, he’s still a superb actor who we look forward to seeing bring King James I to life. Not to mention that with the season starting to wind down now, you’ll want to make sure not to miss any of the remaining episodes of Doctor Who.
