Marvel fans have no doubt already devoured the 13 episodes of The Punisher‘s second season that dropped on Netflix on Friday, leaving them hungry to find out what happens next in the life of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. As it turns out, showrunner Steve Lightfoot already has some ideas for season 3, and they might just include a few fan favorites from a fellow Marvel/Netflix series.

Lightfoot was asked by Heroic Hollywood if he’d want Daredevil characters crossing over onto his show and the EP said he would, citing Matt Murdock himself and his enemy Wilson Fisk as his picks for who he’d want in season 3.

“Yeah. All those guys are great. Obviously Daredevil and Punisher have a lot of history and story between them in the comic books. So it would be great to dig into some of that. Also villains like the Kingpin who was featured in quite a lot of the Punisher books as well. So it would be fantastic to get some of those guys back into the show if we can make it work.”

Needless to say, fans would go crazy if this were to happen. The Marvel TV fandom is pretty bereft right about now following Daredevil‘s recent cancellation, so to have Matt Murdock and his nemesis return one more time would be something really special – much like how Karen Page’s cameo role in The Punisher season 2 was a welcome extra farewell to the character.

The sad thing is, though, that whatever the reasons were for Netflix cancelling Daredevil will likely mean the end of The Punisher as well. It would certainly seem a strange strategy on the streaming service’s part if they wiped out DD, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and kept only The Punisher and Jessica Jones running. That said, Lightfoot has previously said that no one’s told him the show’s cancelled yet, so there still may be hope.
