Centering on a crazy-brilliant scientist who brings his impressionable grandson on adventures throughout alternate dimensions, Rick & Morty essentially has one of the most wide-open setups of any series out there, and its first season featured everything from an episode entirely revolving around television programming throughout various dimensions to a montage sequence in which two characters get ripped over the course of several months in order to kick the crap out of the Devil himself.

And by the looks of the first trailer for the second season, not a drop of that insanity has been lost in the hiatus between seasons. There are gross explosions, a bug assassin named Crabopoulos Michael who “just loves killin’,'” Jerry being Jerry, blast shields and all manner of furious, mulitversal fire fights. And it’s all spectacular.

Created and exec-produced by Dan Harmon (Community) and Justin Roiland (Adventure Time), season 2 of Rick & Morty kicks off July 26. Let’s get this universe rollin’…

“Rick Sanchez (Justin Roiland) is still living with his daughter Beth’s (Sarah Chalke) family and causing more trouble than ever. This season the rest of the family, his son-in-law Jerry (Chris Parnell), grand-daughter Summer (Spencer Grammer) and grand-son Morty (Justin Roiland) are dragged into Rick’s intergalactic adventures, as he faces new threats and mysteries of his secret past are revealed. Can the family survive Rick’s insanity and all the chaos the universe throws at them?“
