The CW has released the synopsis for the upcoming twelfth episode of Arrow, and it it we learn that fan-favourite character Roy Harper (once known as Arsenal) will be making his return.

While it had previously been confirmed that the hero would show up this year, it’s good to know when it’s happening, but what brings him back to Star City remains to be seen at this stage. Could it be the new villain that this instalment looks set to introduce?

For further details, here’s the synopsis of the episode – titled “Unchained” – courtesy of the network:

ROY HARPER RETURNS; NYSSA MAKES HER MOVE — The team faces off against a formidable villain nicknamed The Calculator (guest star Tom Amandes). Meanwhile, Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) makes her move and Roy Harper (guest star Colton Haynes) returns to Star City. Kevin Fair directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Beth Schwartz.

What does it mean by Nyssa making her move? That’s presumably a spoiler for what’s to come in the next few episodes of Arrow, as the last time we saw the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, Malcolm Merlyn had imprisoned her for destroying the last Lazarus Pit in Nanda Parbat. Now it appears as if she’ll be taking aim at his position as leader of the League of Assassin’s, which should be interesting to watch unfold.

Arrow returns to The CW next Wednesday.
