Runaways TV Series In The Works From Marvel And Hulu

A big-screen adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's Runaways comic series has been on the cards at Marvel (in one form or another) since back in 2008, and over the years we've been constantly reassured that a movie outing for the teenage heroes was still a possibility. Well, fans may have to forget about that for the foreseeable future, because there's a TV series in the works.

A big-screen adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona’s Runaways comic series has been on the cards at Marvel (in one form or another) since back in 2008, and over the years we’ve been constantly reassured that a cinematic outing for the teenage heroes was still a possibility. Now, however, fans may have to forget about that for the foreseeable future, because apparently there’s a TV series in the works.

Deadline reports that Marvel and Hulu have teamed up to bring us the small-screen adventures of the popular super-team, with Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage on board to write and produce. The site describes the show as “a story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents.”

Here’s what Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb had to say about the exciting news:

We’ve known the Runaways’ story would make great television and being lucky enough to have Josh and Stephanie — who have time and again created shows that speak so genuinely to this exact audience — write and produce the series is nothing short of remarkable.

Loeb will also executive produce along with Jim Chory (Daredevil) and Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski. No word on when we can expect the show to premiere, but keep an eye out for further updates.
