We’d say it’s that time of year again, but new seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race roll out with such frequency it is practically a year-round experience at this point. That being said, another year of RuPaul’s Drag Race is indeed upon us, this time with the milestone season 15.

The enormous popularity of RuPaul’s Drag race has grown to such magnitude that distinctions must now be made between its U.S. shows and its international spin-offs. The reality competition now includes over three U.S. spin-offs and 10 international spin-offs across just as many countries, so it’s not an exaggeration to say RuPaul’s Drag Race, and drag queens in general, have taken over the world.

Don’t just take our word for it – look no further than Shea Coulee becoming the first drag queen to make it into the MCU and Shangela becoming the first drag queen to compete on Dancing With The Stars. If that wasn’t enough, the show has won the Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program four times and RuPaul himself has 12 Emmys to his name, but we digress.

Season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race was released back in Jan. 2022, and Willow Pill officially won the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar in April. Since then, season five winner Jinkx Monsoon returned once again to steal the crown in the all-winners season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7

Now, it’s time to bring things back with a cast of brand-new, eager, and excited Ru-girls. An official cast list has not been announced yet, but we do know the official release date and information on how to tune in now that the show has switched networks.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 release date

Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will officially premiere on January 6, 2023.

Given the innately political nature of drag queens, it’s surely no accident the show chose to premiere its milestone season on the two-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 United States Capitol attack. This hasn’t been confirmed or corroborated by RuPaul or World of Wonder, but it’s not hard to read between the lines.

The milestone nature of season 15 is doubled by the fact that it will see the reality show’s 200th episode. MTV has dubbed the season the show’s “BIGGEST” season yet, which is not saying much since every new season is bigger and better than the one before, and we fall head over heels for it every single time.

Last season, the show incorporated the infamous chocolate bar as means to save any queen who happened to have the golden one. The effort was largely deplored by viewers and was not only anticlimactic but also hindered the season more than helped it – Bosco having the golden chocolate bar felt like the most stagged and scripted thing the series has ever released. Let’s hope season 15 finds a better way to be fresh and new.

How to watch RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15?

Bye-bye VH1. New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 will officially premiere on MTV, proving just how far the show has come since initially airing on the queer network Logo in 2009.

Viewers can watch RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 on MTV as it airs, or stream it after the fact on MTV’s website by signing in with their cable provider.

Now here’s where things get a tad confusing, so keep up. Both MTV and VH1 are a part of ViacomCBS, now named Paramount Global. Paramount’s streaming platform Paramount Plus offers shows from MTV and VH1 but not every season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is on Paramount Plus, and only the All Stars seasons five, six, and seven have aired on the platform straight out of the gate.

As of this writing, only seasons one through 12 of the regular season are on Paramount Plus, as well as all seasons of All Stars. Whether or not season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will be available to stream on Paramount Plus has not yet been made clear. We will update you as soon as it is announced.

Your best bet for watching season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is through your cable provider, or by subscribing to Fubo TV, Fubo TV Elite, Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, Philo, Vidgo, Xfinity Choice TV, or YouTube TV. If or when the show becomes available to watch on Paramount Plus we will provide you with an update.

New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 will premiere on MTV starting Jan. 6, 2023, at 8/7c.
