The Marvel Comics Secret Invasion storyline saw the shocking revelation that many of Earth’s heroes had been Skrull imposters for years, with most assuming its loose MCU adaptation would do the same. So far the big reveals have been thin on the ground, though there’s one major hero that many fans are keeping a close eye on.

This is Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes, aka War Machine. Rhodes has been a core presence in the MCU ever since Iron Man (where he was played by Terrance Howard) with Don Cheadle debuting in Iron Man 2 and going on to appear in Age of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But, somewhere along the way, has a Skrull agent replaced him?

Here’s hoping we get some answers very soon. If Secret Invasion really is going to do some shocking reveals it’d make sense for them to be characters we’ve already met in the show, so as easily the most mysterious and out-of-character MCU veteran here Rhodey is at the top of our pile too.

This all leaves a burning question: if the Secret Invasion Rhodey is a Skrull, where’s the real one? Perhaps we’ll have to wait until Armor Wars to see the genuine bona fide War Machine back in action.
