Secret Invasion is delivering on its promise of exploring the murkier corners of the MCU. Nick Fury’s world is one of lies, internal conflict, betrayal, and manipulation, all underlined by the shapeshifting Skrulls’ sneaky and covert infiltration of the highest echelons of power.
The newest episode served up some meaty plot developments, including a subtle confirmation that a beloved Marvel hero has been replaced by a Skrull duplicate. But there’s one thing that’s still missing from Secret Invasion that has fans calling foul.
In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Chloe Bennet played Daisy Johnson (aka Quake). In that show she was described as one of Fury’s most trusted agents and her job is literally dealing threats to Earth like a Skrull invasion. There were rumors that Quake would return for Secret Invasion but we’re now three episodes in and we’ve got nothing. Fans aren’t happy:
Sadly it seems the rumors were hogwash:
Women in Secret Invasion aren’t having a great time…
Is this really a deal-breaker?
Don’t mess with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans’ hearts:
It’s never been more over for Quake:
It’s time to accept that it’s vanishingly unlikely that any characters or events from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will ever be referenced in the MCU again. The movies have contradicted the show (primarily with the Darkhold in WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness, and Kevin Feige seems to regard the Marvel TV projects as an embarrassment to be swept under the rug.
Even so, it seems like a shame to squander Quake completely. The Marvel multiverse is a big place, so maybe one day she’ll make the leap back into canon.
