Secret Invasion has finally made first contact on Disney Plus, and there’s already a lot to love, hate, chuckle, seethe, and overall just feel about Marvel’s foray into mature political thrillers; between the major Skrull identity reveals to rousing debut performances to a closing story beat that has fans grabbing their pitchforks (albeit prematurely, in our honest opinion), the first episode was nothing short of electrifying.

The newcomers to the franchise in particular truly asserted their dominance in this newfound space; Olivia Colman’s Sonya Falsworth was a deceptively delightful scene-stealer that we can’t wait to see more of, and Kingsley Ben-Adir’s chilling antagonist Gravik didn’t hold back on his introduction in the slightest.

But it’s Emilia Clarke‘s character G’iah, the daughter of Talos working under Gravik, who intrigues us most of all — as she fights for what she believes to be Skrull freedom, all while her only remaining family member is on the opposite side of this secret war, G’iah looks to have quite the emotional arc on her hands.

And while we’ve only witnessed a fraction of G’iah’s screen time so far, fans are already begging for one particular emotional beat to become part of her journey, and it involves a ghost from a far better past.

Indeed, with G’iah and Monica Rambeau all grown up, there’s been no shortage of gushing over the possibility of a reunion between these two childhood friends from Captain Marvel, and considering how narratively scrumptious of a dynamic these two would create if they met again, we’d say these are some well-placed daydreams.

Of course, Monica might be a bit apprehensive when she finds out what the adorable little alien she knew from her childhood wound up getting involved in.

In any case, with The Marvels, a film that’s effectively attached at the hip with Secret Invasion, gearing up for a release later this year, Monica will be roped back into the mythos in a big way before long, and while it would probably be best to wait and see what becomes of G’iah at the end of Secret Invasion first, this meet-up is far too adorable to not hope for.

Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney Plus. New episodes will release every Wednesday until the series finale on July 26. The Marvels lands in theaters on Nov. 10.
