Can you believe we haven’t had a new Marvel Studios TV series hit Disney Plus since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (sainted show that it is — I said what I said, haters) concluded last October? Thankfully, the drought is soon set to end with Secret Invasion hitting streaming this June. What’s more, early word on the runtime of the first two episodes indicates that they will leave starving fans nice and full.
As per Twitter scooper Cryptic HD Quality, Secret Invasion episode 1 will clock in at 52 minutes, 44 seconds while episode 2 will last for 55 minutes, 28 seconds. While this should definitely just be counted as a rumor for now, this source is believed to have served up accurate details of this ilk before so perhaps we can use it as a decent indication for what to expect from the opening hours of the Samuel L. Jackson vehicle. And, if they turn out to be accurate, it sounds like we’re in for a couple of hefty helpings.
Marvel fans have long lamented just how short MCU TV episodes are, and while Disney Plus typically adds extremely long credits to the end of every episode, we’re likely in for a chunky 45 minutes+ with these two installments. If that keeps up throughout the remainder of the six-part season then we really shouldn’t be short-changed when it comes to Secret Invasion delivering a noirish action-packed conspiracy thriller that keeps us on the edge of our seats.
While the aforementioned She-Hulk can get away with episodes that are about 30 minutes in length, Secret Invasion is definitely a show that should benefit from longer episodes to really eke out the drama, so these rumored runtimes can only be good news if they’re indeed on the money. We’ll find out when Nick Fury returns on June 21.
