Serinda Swan Joins Marvel’s Inhumans As Medusa

Marvel's casting spree for Inhumans continues today, as EW reports that Serinda Swan will star on the ABC series as Medusa, "the queen of the ancient superpowered race who's known for her red hair, which often seems to have a mind of its own." Marvel’s casting spree for Inhumans continues today, as EW reports that Serinda Swan will star on the ABC series as Medusa, “the Queen of the ancient superpowered race who’s known for her red hair.” She’ll join a cast that already includes Anson Mount as Black Bolt and Iwan Rheon as Maximus.

“Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character,” Marvel TV head and executive producer Jeph Loeb says. “She is nothing short of wonderful.”

Adds showrunner Scott Buck: “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”

Best known for her work on Graceland, this will probably be the actress’ biggest role yet, as Medusa is the wife of Black Bolt and his most trusted advisor, described as a “fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.”

With shooting set to get underway this spring in Hawaii, it’s not surprising that the casting announcements for Inhumans have been arriving at an alarming rate. Though Marvel’s still got a few roles left to fill, things are definitely coming together nicely so far for what’s no doubt going to be one of the studio’s most ambitious projects to date.

Boasting “cinema-quality visual effects,” and with the first two episodes being shot on IMAX cameras, you can bet that Inhumans is going to be something quite special, and we’re excited to learn who else Marvel ropes in to bring the rest of the characters to life. As always, we’ll keep you posted once we learn more, but in the meantime, feel free to comment below letting us know what you think of the cast so far.
