Though this weekend’s D23 Expo didn’t yield as much news in the way of Marvel Studios’ theatrical plans as I thought it would, we at least learned much exciting new information when it came to the Disney Plus side of things. Chief among these announcements was the reveal of a TV show to be headlined by She-Hulk.
Right now, not much is known about the gestating project, but it’s quite exciting to ponder the possibilities. If you’re familiar with the source material, then you’re well aware of how Bruce Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters, is somewhat comparable to the Smart Hulk seen in Avengers: Endgame insofar that she’s always in green form and retains her intelligence. That said, the producers would be wise to look to Charles Soule’s acclaimed comic book run showcasing what she can do as an attorney.
In any case, as you may recall, we did inform you that a She-Hulk show was on the way as far back as this past April, and now, the same source who gave us that scoop (and who also told us about the Ms. Marvel series last week, before it was confirmed at D23 yesterday) has informed us that Red Hulk will be making an appearance at some point during the show. According to them, it’ll still be General Ross growing to monstrous proportions as he did in the comics, so one would expect for William Hurt to reprise his role.
Originally introduced in 2008’s Hulk #1, Red Hulk has gone on to develop quite the cult following, with True Believers clamoring for him to be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the years since. Aside from the comic book medium though, Thunderbolt Ross (as Red Hulk) has also appeared in animated series such as The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble. So, if you also dig cartoons, then it’s highly advised that you reference one of those just mentioned as well and as always, stay tuned for more updates on the in-development She-Hulk.
