Slippin’ Jimmy’s evolution into Saul Goodman will continue on into a third season, after AMC announced plans today to renew hit drama Better Call Saul.

Currently in the midst of season 2, an additional season will grant showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould with a further 10 episodes to continue the tale of Bob Odenkirk’s conniving criminal lawyer, who sets about becoming the apex predator of Albuquerque long before a certain Walter White enters the fray.

In light of securing a renewal, AMC President Charlie Collier heaped praised on Better Call Saul, claiming that “what Vince, Peter, Bob and the entire team have accomplished with Better Call Saul is truly rare and remarkable. They have taken one of the most iconic, immersive and fan-obsessive (in the best possible way) shows in television history and created a prequel that stands on its own.”

As our in-depth review attests, we largely agree with them. When it was announced that Gilligan and Gould were returning to the Breaking Bad universe to craft a spinoff, fans were understandably apprehensive. But two seasons in and with a third on the horizon, Better Call Saul is fast becoming a bankable fixture on AMC’s slate. Long may that continue.

Welcoming back Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein and Thomas Schnauz to produce, expect Better Call Saul season 3 to land on AMC and Netflix in 2017. Currently, Odenkirk’s lawyer can be seen scheming his way up the proverbial ladder in season 2.
