Sonequa Martin-Green Just Leaked The Title Of The Star Trek Picard Show

Sonequa Martin-Green has impressed fans as Sasha Williams on The Walking Dead and as Michael Burnham on Star Trek: Discovery. But today she might have made Trekkies just that little bit happier by inadvertently leaking the name of the hotly anticipated return of Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard in his very own Star Trek show.

But today she might have made Trekkies just that little bit happier by inadvertently leaking the name of the hotly anticipated return of Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard in his very own Star Trek show.

The slip came in an interview with Larry King when after he asked her a question about what she thought about his return to the franchise, she replied:

Patrick Stewart is helming his own Star Trek. It’s going to be called ‘Picard’… He announced his come back recently and it was – goodness – the response was amazing. People are really happy including me.

Now, Picard is a very straightforward title for the show and very well could be a working title. That being said, she sounds awfully sure that this is its name and I think there’s a decent chance this will be the case. Anyone tuning into the show will be watching it purely to see what Jean-Luc Picard’s been doing in the nearly two decades since Star Trek: Nemesis and if this does prove to be the title, it indicates that the show will be zeroing on in what makes the greatest Trek captain of all-time (sorry Kirk fans) tick.

This slip could also put Martin-Green in the doghouse at CBS. Just two days ago, Patrick Stewart was questioned about the show and explained that he was “banned” from revealing anything about it – specifically going out of his way to say he couldn’t discuss the title. So, if this is the case, expect Martin-Green to be given a bit of a telling off by the bosses about not revealing spoilers.

That said, we should know a lot more about the show very soon. Stewart explained that the first season and core storylines have been decided, with production beginning in mid-April in California. As such, expect some photos of the location shoot shortly afterwards, which will give us a much better idea of where they’re going with this new Star Trek series.
