South Park Creators Partner With Hulu For Exclusive Streaming

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had quite the bombshell of an announcement regarding the show's distribution, at The Television Critics Association summer press tour. The masterminds behind the offensively hilarious 18 year long running and counting hit animated show have partnered together with Hulu in an exclusive deal that will see all 244 episodes - and future episodes - of the show on the service. For now, you can watch all of the classic episodes for free either on Hulu or SouthParkStudios.com , but on September 24th the partnership will fully kick in, with the episodes only available on Hulu Plus for $7.99 a month.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had quite the bombshell of an announcement regarding the show’s distribution at The Television Critics Association summer press tour. The masterminds behind the offensively hilarious, 18-yeaar-old (and counting) hit animated show have partnered with Hulu in an exclusive deal that will see all 244 episodes – and future episodes – of the show on the service. For now, you can watch all of the classic episodes for free either on Hulu or SouthParkStudios.com , but on September 24th the partnership will fully kick in, with the episodes only available on Hulu Plus for $7.99 a month.

That leaves the question, what will become of SouthParkStudios.com? Apparently, starting on September 24th both Hulu and South Park Studios will begin offering a revolving selection of 30 episodes that will be swapped in and out over time. All of the supplemental content originally found on South Park Studios will, however, remain intact.

The reasoning for the partnership is simply to monetize all of the older episodes. But before you go screaming all over the Internet about how Trey Parker and Matt Stone sold out, among other over-exaggerated nonsense, just remember that these guys have been providing the entire library of episodes free of charge for a very long time. At the end of the day, there’s really nothing immoral at all regarding the decision. Even if you don’t have Hulu Plus, is $7.99 a month really going to break your bank? Somehow, I really don’t think so.
