Star Trek: Discovery season 2 ended with the titular Starfleet ship flying off into the far future. While this teases an exciting, and unique third season, fans aren’t ready to say goodbye to the pre-TOS period of the timeline just yet. In fact, Anson Mount’s Christopher Pike went down so well with viewers that social media is now being inundated with calls for CBS to commission a spinoff, following the Enterprise’s adventures in the days before Kirk was captain.
Obviously, this campaign has been going on for weeks – an online petition has amassed around 20,000 signatures already – but fans got even hungrier for it after Mount shared a snap of himself with co-stars Ethan Peck (Spock) and Rebecca Romijn (Number One) on the bridge of the Enterprise. This only caused fans to renew their efforts to grab CBS’ attention, using the hashtag #StarTrekPike.
Give. Us. A. Pike. Series. Please. @CBSAllAccess! #StarTrekPike #StarTrek #StarTrekDiscovery https://t.co/WKL7EHgsqu

Mount himself has been asked if he’d be interested in helming his own show as Pike and while the actor admitted the Trek shooting schedule can be quite severe, so he’d have to think about it, he did tease that there’s more of Pike’s story left to explore before he meets the tragic fate revealed for him in TOS episode “The Mengarie.”
A more official response to the campaign comes from Star Trek: Discovery showrunner and Trek TV architect Alex Kurtzman, who revealed that “the fans have been heard,” promising that “anything is possible” and that he’d personally love to do more with that crew and those actors.
Seeing as multiple Trek shows are in the works – the Picard series, two animated shows, a Georgiou spinoff and others – it really doesn’t seem too far-fetched to suggest a Pike solo vehicle could be on the way, too. But until anything’s confirmed, the fans will continue doing their best to ensure the character lives long and prospers.
