Star Wars Resistance Snags Lords Of The Rings Star For Guest Spot

Ever since Lucasfilm's crown jewel returned in 2015, the Star Wars franchise has only grown bigger and bigger with each passing year. In 2018 alone, we've already seen Solo, Ron Howard's Anthology pic which explored formative years of everyone's favorite smuggler. But it's not the only Star Wars-related property set to release this year, as we've also got the animated Resistance series heading are way, which is aiming for a premiere in October and will chronicle the adventures of Leia Organa's ace fighter pilots as they hope to thwart the growing threat of the First Order.

In 2018 alone, we’ve already seen Solo, Ron Howard’s Anthology pic which explored the formative years of everyone’s favorite smuggler. But it’s not the only Star Wars-related property set to release this year, as we’ve also got the animated Resistance series heading our way, which is aiming for a premiere in October and will chronicle the adventures of Leia Organa’s ace fighter pilots as they hope to thwart the growing threat of the First Order.

From what we understand, the show will center on Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono (voiced by Days of Our Lives alum Christopher Sean), the Resistance’s latest recruit who hopes to spy on the First Order and impress his commanding officer, who just so happens to be Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

It’s shaping up to be a real treat for fans, and today, we’ve got some great news, as we’re learning that The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood has signed on for a guest role. He’ll be playing a sky racer named Jace Rucklin and will appear (or rather, his voice will be heard) in the episode titled “Fuel For The Fire,” which airs October 21st.

Beyond that, today also brings with it plot synopses for the first five outings, and they read as follows:

“The Recruit: Part 1”

Air Date – October 7th

X-wing pilot Kazuda Xiono is recruited for the Resistance, but finds himself in over his head when Poe Dameron assigns him to a remote fueling station to spy on the First Order. Then, after Kaz boasts about being the best pilot around, he is forced to compete in a dangerous sky race.

*Guest starring is Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Poe Dameron, Jim Rash (Community), and Bobby Moynihan (DuckTales) as Flix and Orka, respectively.

Star Wars Resistance has been cleared for take-off on October 7th, which, if nothing else, should help tide fans over until Episode IX arrives. It’s the final chapter in Lucasfilm’s beloved Skywalker Saga, so it’s really no surprise that Star Wars enthusiasts have their fingers (and toes!) crossed in the hope that J.J. Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio will be able to deliver a fitting conclusion.
