the book of boba fett

‘Star Wars’ veteran who has appeared in three different projects remains a mystery to the fandom

She's this generation's Boba Fett.

It’s safe to say that the Star Wars IP is as perennial as the galaxy itself at this point, but one has to wonder just where the franchise might be several decades from now. If Andor is any indication, each major Star Wars project is just going to trickle down into multiple spinoff shows focusing on one of those characters from said project, which will all eventually get their own spinoffs focusing on an even more minor character, and so on and so forth until we know the story of every galaxy inhabitant front to back.

We’re not there yet, of course (although I’m still pulling for a Yoda-narrated Planet Earth-esque movie about the galaxy’s fauna), but it sounds like that’s what it’s going to take for us to learn the nuances of one Fennec Shand. Indeed, despite being a more than familiar face at this point thanks to her appearances in The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, and The Book of Boba Fett (the last of which saw her take on a main character role), the Star Wars fandom is still largely in the dark when it comes to the elusive bounty hunter, and they’ve taken to r/StarWars to discuss.

One user pointed out how, poetically enough, Fennec has become the Boba Fett of the Mandoverse era; back when the world was first getting acquainted with Luke Skywalker and company, all we knew about Boba Fett was that he looked really damn cool.

Others began speculating on the spaces in which Fennec’s backstory could be explored a bit more, pointing to future seasons of The Bad Batch or a surprise appearance in the second season of Andor as two possibilities.

But one responder pointed out that we pretty much have all the information we need to be satisfied already.

Perhaps there will come a day when Fennec Shand steps out of her mysterious shadow and offers us a glimpse into her complexities, ambitions, fears, and whatever else she’s housing under that visor, but for now, the summary of Boba Fett-adjacent, robo-gut assassin who might show up in The Bad Batch again will have to do.
