Stephen Amell Teases “Awesome” Arrowverse Crossover Featuring Batwoman

At long last, one of the Bat-family is coming to the Arrowverse!

Next season’s big four-way crossover between The CW’s four DC shows will introduce Gotham City and one of its heroes, Kate Kane AKA Batwoman, into the Arrowverse for the very first time. The announcement was made earlier this month but, obviously, plot details and the like were kept under wraps.

That didn’t stop fans from trying to pick Arrow star Stephen Amell’s brain about the crossover though while he held a Q&A panel at this weekend’s Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in London. When asked about the incoming introduction of Batwoman, the actor couldn’t give anything away, but he did reveal that he knew the whole story and promised that it’d be “awesome.”

“I know the entire story of the crossover. It’s awesome, and I can’t talk about it at all.”

The fan then changed tack and asked him who he’d cast as Batwoman. Again, Amell decided to leave that to the professionals in charge of production. In particular, he cited that he has faith in Arrowverse casting director David Rappaport to make the right call.

“I don’t know, I really don’t know… David Rappaport has been the casting director on all of the shows. He casted me. He casted Grant [Gustin, The Flash]. He casted Caity [Lotz, Legends of Tomorrow]. He casted Melissa [Benoist, Supergirl]. I trust whatever he’s gonna do. He’s gonna nail it.”

It’s also worth noting that, when asking Amell this question, the fan suggested that Batwoman could come from either Earth-1, the home of Arrow, the Flash and the Legends, or Earth-38, the setting of Supergirl. It’s a good point, as Batman has been alluded to on both worlds and introducing Kate Kane on the latter would help flesh out that corner of the Arrowverse, which is much less populated than Earth-1.

Fans have also theorized that Batwoman’s appearance in the crossover could lead to Bruce Wayne himself being introduced later down the line, or at least his place in the universe being fully explained. We’ll have to see how this develops as we get closer to the new batch of Arrowverse seasons beginning this fall, but it’s all pretty exciting to think about and if you have any thoughts of your own on the matter, be sure to share them down below.
