Stephen Amell Elaborates On His Ideas For An Arrow/Supernatural Crossover

By now, you're probably aware that The CW is no stranger to prime time crossovers. But usually, they involve series that occupy the same universe, such as its various DC TV shows, or The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Speaking of which, we just recently learned about this fall's "Crisis on Earth-X," the news of which made the fan base go bananas. Still, that hasn't put the kibosh on other dream mashups that viewers - and even the stars - hope to see.

As you may recall, Arrow‘s own Stephen Amell said that he’d be “totally up for” a crossover with Supernatural a few months back. Obviously, this would be hard to execute from a storytelling standpoint and there may be a lot of red tape involved, but it’d be pretty cool to see nevertheless.

But when recently speaking at Salt Lake Comic Con, Amell cleared up some confusion by laying out how something such as this might actually work. As it turns out, his suggestions sound more akin to a guest shot rather than a full-on crossover between the two shows:

“Without breaking the fourth wall with too much gusto, if I could show up on Supernatural as, like, someone pumping gas in their car or something like that, or just someone that they murder, that would be tremendous. And maybe it’s one of those things where, I know that it doesn’t make sense and I know that its one of those things where it’s not the same universe, but at the same time its TV and its supposed to be fun so maybe, you know, one of these days [Arrow executive producer] Greg Berlanti will be sitting in a room with the head honcho of Supernatural and they’ll just go, ‘Eh, why not?’”

Admittedly, that sounds much more feasible. And with both shows shooting in Vancouver, it’s not outside the realm of possibility to have Amell stop by the set of Supernatural for a day or so of filming once his schedule permits. Still, viewers would expect someone of his namesake to have a fair amount of screentime and not be simply pumping gas, but that’s the fun of cameos.

Both Arrow and Supernatural return for their new seasons on Thursday, October 12 on The CW.
