Stephen Amell Shares BTS Photo From This Year’s Arrowverse Crossover

The yearly Arrowverse crossovers have just kept getting more and more ambitious each season, with last year's "Crisis on Earth-X" storyline managing to bring together every single hero across Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow as well as several more from the alternate universe of the title. Of course, it would be impossible to top that in 2018 and so, The CW's decided to cut Legends out of the equation.

Fear not, though, as there will still be enough going on in this year’s crossover to distract viewers from the fact that the Waverider crew isn’t taking part. The big highlight is, of course, the debut of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman as well as the introduction of Gotham City into the Arrowverse. Not to mention that Tyler Hoechlin will also be reprising his role as Superman, with Lois Lane joining him as well.

It’s still a bit too early to see any promotion for the event, but we do know that production is now underway, as star Stephen Amell has shared a behind the scenes photo on social media this week teasing the crossover. Accompanied with the caption, “Officially started work on the crossover today,” it sees the actor with some kind of green goop all over his face, though there’s no indication of what it could be for.

In regards to what we know so far about this year’s event, well, we haven’t been told very much outside of what we already mentioned. That being said, Amell’s revealed that it’ll be character-focused, explaining the following while recently speaking with Digital Spy:

“Because we went so big with the crossover last year, you can’t go bigger, so you have to go more about the characters and the story.”

To be honest, that’s pretty much what we imagined would happen. After the Dominators’ appearance in “Invasion!” and Nazi dopplegangers from a parallel dimension crashing Barry Allen and Iris West’s wedding in “Crisis on Earth-X,” it’d be smart for the producers not to push their luck with what TV specials can achieve, as there are obviously budgetary restrictions to consider.

The Arrowverse three-way crossover event begins Sunday, December 8th on The CW. And you can be sure that you won’t want to miss this one.
