Steven Soderbergh Developing A “Choose Your Own Adventure” Style TV Movie For HBO

Well, this sounds amazing/nuts. It's been revealed today that Steven Soderbergh is developing a mysterious movie for HBO, starring Sharon Stone, that is expected to let viewers use an app to determine the course of the storyline as it goes along. Whether each viewer will thereby see different scenes depending on their choice or it will come down to an app vote of sorts is unclear, but this is certainly a unique idea.

Well, this sounds amazing/nuts. It’s been revealed today that Steven Soderbergh is developing a mysterious movie for HBO, starring Sharon Stone, that is expected to let viewers use an app to determine the course of the storyline as it goes along. Whether each viewer will thereby see different scenes depending on their choice or it will come down to an app vote of sorts is unclear, but this is certainly a unique idea.

Based on a new report however, it sounds like it’s specifically the movie’s the ending which will be left for viewers to determine. While plot details are strictly being kept under wraps for the time being, HBO released the following statement from Soderbergh that makes the project – which has been titled Mosaic – sound even more intriguing.

“I believe the good people at HBO are genuinely enthusiastic about Mosaic for two reasons: First, it represents a fresh way of experiencing a story and sharing that experience with others; second, it will require a new Emmy category, and we will be the only eligible nominee.”

Soderbergh is well known for being a fan of experimental storytelling, and Mosaic is either going to be something truly special or a complete mess. We’ll just have to wait and see, but it’s definitely going to be well worth keeping an eye on.
