Stranger Things Season 4 May Not Arrive Until Late 2020

Season 3 has come and gone and the Upside Down is officially closed (for now), but let's speculate as to when Stranger Things 4 will arrive.

Year on year, Stranger Things has become increasingly important for Netflix.

Not only is it one of the company’s most-watched TV shows, but it’s also an exclusive – a precious USP in an age of Amazon Prime and the soon-to-be-released Disney Plus. So while the Duffer Brothers have hinted that the fourth season of Stranger Things may be its last, we wouldn’t be too surprised if the Powers That Be pushed for a fifth installment in order to keep this gravy train on track.

Whatever the case, we know for a fact that Stranger Things 4 is already in the mix – so much so, in fact, that Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) knows the general outline of what’s in store for El and the rest of the gang going into 2020. And that’s just it. While season 3 dropped on July 4th, and therefore during the height of the summer, a new theory put forth by ScreenRant suggests that Stranger Things season 4 may not be with us until the latter stages of 2020.

Such a change of tact may open up a possible Christmas/Thanksgiving theme for the next run, which would certainly herald a welcome change of pace after time spent in Halloween and the July 4th festivities. Besides, the first season concluded at a time when the Byers family were reunited at Christmas, so this would be an effective way to bring things full circle. But again, it’s just a theory, so take this one with a pinch of salt.

All three seasons of Stranger Things are currently available on Netflix, so if you’ve somehow slept in on this nostalgia-fueled gem, there’s still plenty of time to catch up before the fourth (and final?) chapter arrives.
