In fiction, some vampires have the power to “glamor” and persuade normal humans. That skill will come in handy for Twilight actor Peter Facinelli’s next gig, as it was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend that he’s been cast as Maxwell Lord on CBS’ upcoming Supergirl series.

In the comics, Lord is a shrewd and powerful businessman with the ability to telepathically influence the minds of others in a way that makes them completely unaware of his influence. He’s used these powers for both good and evil, and was instrumental in the formation of the Justice League International. He’s also a part of Checkmate, a covert operations organization and a sort of offshoot of the Suicide Squad.

On Supergirl, Lord is a green tech billionaire who shares a “friendly rivalry” with Kara’s boss, media magnate Cat Grant (played by Calista Flockhart). From there, it’s likely that his abilities and true nature will be revealed over time.

Tell us, are you excited that Maxwell Lord will be part of the show, and that he’ll be played by Peter Facinelli? Sound off in the comments section below.

Supergirl will debut on October 26th, 2015 on CBS and then air on Mondays this fall. If you haven’t already done so, you can read our review of the pilot episode here.
