Superman Prequel Series Krypton Rolls Out First Official Promo

Per Instagram, Syfy has today rolled out the first official promos for Krypton, which is expected to unveil its pilot episode sometime in 2017.

When you take a moment to combine the current roster of Marvel and DC-related TV shows – both on air and in the pipeline – you’ll no doubt uncover a treasure trove of costumed crusaders. On the one hand, Marvel has made serious headway through its collaboration with Netflix, resulting in four standalone series based on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Mike Colter’s Hero for Hire, Luke Cage. With four solo series now under their belt, all eyes are beginning to turn toward The Defenders ahead of its bow in August.

DC, meanwhile, has found great success within the Arrowverse – an umbrella that encompasses The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Vixen and Legends of Tomorrow. But there’s another show looming on the horizon, and its name is Krypton. Syfy’s Superman prequel series did the rounds earlier this week after a leaked trailer surfaced onto the interwebs, only to be pulled shortly thereafter.

If you didn’t get a chance to watch said promo, don’t worry, as a new one was released earlier today. First spotted by CBM, above you’ll find a teaser for the upcoming prequel series, which is set to introduce newcomer Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, the Man of Steel’s grandfather.

Produced by David Goyer, the show follows our hero as he “fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.” A journey to the fabled Fortress is on the cards, it seems, and we know that Cuffe will be rubbing shoulders with Georgina Campbell (Lyta Zod), Ian McElhinney (Val-El), Elliot Cowan (Daron-Vex), Ann Ogbomo (Alura Zod), Rasmus Hardiker (Kem), Wallis Day (Nyssa-Vex) and, finally, Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em.

Still no word on when Krypton will air, and it’s worth remembering that Syfy has only ordered a pilot episode thus far. Nevertheless, we’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
