Supernatural Cast And Crew Tease An Insane Final Season

If you've been keeping up with Supernatural, then odds are you were just as floored by season 14's finale as I. In my view, it was right up there with season 3, 5 and 11's concluding episodes. To put it mildly, it was quite the game-changer and effectively set up the final chapter of Sam and Dean's journey.

If you’ve been keeping up with Supernatural, then odds are you were just as floored by season 14’s finale as I. In my view, it was right up there with season 3, 5 and 11’s concluding episodes. To put it mildly, it was quite the game-changer and effectively set up the final chapter of Sam and Dean’s journey.

But if you need to be brought up to speed, I’ll sum up what happened in succinct fashion.

Basically, God/Chuck made his return due to Jack becoming evermore powerful. In an effort to eradicate him from existence, he fashioned a gun that could kill anything – but there was a catch. You see, the bullet fired would also kill whomever was holding said gun. But when it came time for Dean to put down Jack – who was willing to surrender, mind you – he just couldn’t do it.

Upon Chuck showing his frustration, Sam figured out that the Almighty was actually enjoying this. Not only that, but the absentee deity smote Jack anyway. Because of that, Sam fired at Chuck but ended up hitting him in the shoulder. Then, Chuck declared, “Story’s over, welcome to the end.”

With a snap of his fingers, God freed every soul from Hell and the dead rose from the grave. If that weren’t enough, every menace Sam and Dean have put down for the past 14 years is now back in play – even threats going as far back as the pilot episode’s Woman in White.

In a featurette to be included with season 14’s digital and home video releases, “The Winchester Mythology: The Choices We Make,” showrunner Andrew Dabb let us all know the gravity of the situation, saying:

“God was not kidding when he said it was the end of this story. And by the end of this story, it means the end of the world. The question of what that looks like, the question of how Sam and Dean deal with that, I think those are the big things that we’re going to explore going into season 15.”

Obviously, this means we’re going to witness a season like none before it. Heck, I wonder if even the Men of Letters bunker will even be considered a safe haven going forward. Still, series star Jensen Ackles is pretty pumped for what’s to come, teasing:

“The world has just opened up, essentially, and all of those things that we have spent so many years fighting, they’re going to come knocking now. It’s going to be an all-out free-for-all. In my opinion, they’re teeing up what could possibly be the best season of the show.”

Supernatural season 14 is now available digitally. Of course, Blu-ray and DVD collectors will be able to get their hands on it before summer’s over, but do note that encore presentations begin airing on Sunday, May 26th on The CW.
