Jeffrey Dean Morgan Teases His Big Return To Supernatural

Over on Twitter, former Supernatural fan-favorite Jeffrey Dean Morgan has dropped a big tease about his upcoming return to the spooky series.

Before he was Negan of The Walking Dead, he was John Winchester, father to Sam and Dean and generally one of the greatest hunters in all the land.

We are, of course, referring to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, former Supernatural fan-favorite, who is now on the verge of returning to the family business – much to the delight of the show’s impassioned fanbase. News of Morgan’s long-rumored second coming broke just yesterday, when The CW and series showrunner Andrew Dabb earmarked the return of John Winchester for February 7th.

For those keeping track, that’s the same day on which Supernatural season 14 is expected to resume, and we’re hearing that there may well be another few surprise guest stars thrown in for good measure. But first, here’s the official word from Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Twitter feed, which hints at the family Impala and what appears to be the Woman in White.

It’s not much to go on, of course, but the fact that Supernatural veteran Samantha Smith (Mary Winchester) is returning alongside the great JDM has us rooted to the edge of our seats. What new adventures await the Winchester clan come 2019? Frankly, there’s so much potential, though given we’ve already paid a visit to Mary and John when they were just star-crossed lovers, we imagine this second coming has something to do with the current timeline.

Amid news of Morgan’s return, here’s what former showrunner and frequent writer Eric Kripke had to share:

We’re incredibly excited to have Jeffrey back for this milestone episode, and think fans will love what we have planned for his character… and a few other surprise guest stars.

Supernatural season 14 reaches its mid-season finale later this evening with “The Spear,” before The CW’s hit drama series winds down for its annual winter hiatus. Up next? The return of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s John Winchester on February 7th, when the Powers That Be will get the ball rolling with “Lebanon,” otherwise known as the show’s 300th episode.
