Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles Becomes Red Hood In New Cosplay Photos

You know, the funny thing about the Jason Todd character is that he was very much reviled during his time as Robin, yet he gained an impressive cult following upon assuming the Red Hood identity after his resurrection. I'm serious when I say some people were dancing in the streets after the Joker murdered him back in the 1980's, but now it seems like we just can't get enough of him.

Amazingly, Jason hasn’t been adapted all that much outside of comics. As you’re probably aware, 2010’s Batman: Under The Red Hood animated film was the production that took the first big leap, with Supernatural‘s own Jensen Ackles lending his pipes to the anti-hero. Heck, I still hear his voice when I read the books. And more recently, Curran Walters was given the distinct honor of playing the first live action take on Jason Todd – albeit as Robin only – on DC Universe’s Titans.

As you may have heard, Ackles quite possibly took home the “Best Red Hood Cosplay Ever Award” when he suited up as the very guy he once voiced last Halloween. Believe it or not, a few more photos of Dean Winchester himself in full regalia have surfaced online, and can be viewed in the gallery below.

In my eyes, this is beyond awesome, as it’s something we could’ve only dreamed before last year. Whenever a Red Hood casting conversation comes up on social media, there are always at least a few people chiming in to say something like “get Jensen Ackles.” Hey, with Supernatural soon set to end its impressive run after fifteen seasons, perhaps he’ll have an opening in his schedule if the opportunity arises.

But to be realistic, I don’t know when and if the Red Hood persona will make the leap to live action, as we’ve still yet to see Dick Grayson evolve into Nightwing outside of comics and animation. If this were to happen anywhere, it’ll probably be during a future season of Titans, but we can’t be too sure of what Matt Reeves is cooking up with his movies.

Supernatural returns with new episodes on Thursday, October 10th on The CW.
