It’s admirable just how far fans of a TV show will go in an effort to try and will new episodes into existence when the axe falls upon its very existence, but backers of HBO Max’s expensive sci-fi Raised by Wolves don’t seem to see the irony in channeling the spirit of Warrior Nun.
The latter might boast one of the most dedicated and vociferous fandoms the small screen has to offer, but six months of constant campaigning and relentless hashtagging hasn’t done a thing to change the minds of the Netflix top brass, while no other streamer or network has shown an interest in stepping up to the plate and taking the plunge.
Raised by Wolves was designated as one of HBO Max’s flagship originals, but it isn’t even available on the platform anymore having been scrubbed from existence by way of getting canned after two seasons and ultimately moved over to Roku and Tubi. That underlines just how little the Warner Bros. top brass care for it, but a billboard did recently crop up in New York City as its die-hard followers take to social media in an effort to drum up more postmortem buzz.
It’s more than likely going to accomplish nothing in the long run – a fate that’s unfortunately feeling destined to befall Warrior Nun, too – but it just goes to show that even a hardy band of keyboard warriors are only a small drop in the ocean when it comes to the boardroom deciding which in-house exclusives have a big enough audiences to justify a stay of execution, and it would be fair to say that Raised by Wolves isn’t one of them.
