The Defenders Will Find Colleen Wing Ready To Explode

Though Marvel and Netflix’s Iron Fist wasn’t exactly what you’d call critically acclaimed, most people would agree that Jessica Henwick’s badass martial artist, Colleen Wing, was a major highlight, and fans are understandably looking forward to seeing her reprise the role later this year in The Defenders.

In the season finale of Iron Fist, Wing decided to stick with Danny Rand and travelled back to K’un-Lun with him only to find that the heavenly dimension had seemingly vanished, and it sounds like whatever she experienced after this in the build-up to The Defenders is going to have a pretty serious effect on her psyche.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Henwick revealed how much time is supposed to have passed between Iron Fist and The Defenders, while also giving us some insight into her character’s combustible frame of mind.

We pick up with Colleen not in New York — which is crazy, as all the shows have been predominantly in New York. We find her a month after we left her. It’s really interesting she hasn’t been able to deal with the emotional trauma she dealt with in Iron Fist. So it builds to a head and she explodes in Defenders.

Miss Wing wasn’t exactly level-headed to begin with, so if she’s even more wound-up in the upcoming miniseries, it’s going to spell very bad news for anyone stupid enough to get in her way.

Wing will once again team-up with Rand when The Defenders premieres this August, and they’ll have some serious backup in the form of Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Before that, though, we’ll most likely get our first proper look at the show at SDCC this July, so be sure to stay tuned for more.
