Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Flash 9×3: “Rogues of War.”
The CW’s Arrowverse is on its last legs, what with The Flash — the final show set within the DC TV shared universe still standing — ending upon the conclusion of its ninth and current season. However, it’s still finding fresh ways to annoy fans all the same. On the face of it, you’d think the series adapting the Red Death, one of the coolest Batman variants in the DC multiverse, for its last epic hurrah would go down well with people, but an attempt to call back to The Batman is really killing the excitement.
Red Death, a mysterious speedster sporting a bat-themed costume, has been skulking around Central City since the premiere. In the latest episode of season nine, the villain was finally unmasked as none other than Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman (Javicia Leslie), or at least some evil doppelgänger of Gotham City’s heroine. And to mark her big reveal moment, Red Death got to deliver her own take on Robert Pattinson’s signature line, declaring “I am vengeance.”
Going by a tweet from @NebsGoodTakes gone viral, however, it seems that aping the acclaimed 2022 movie was definitely the wrong move to make.
The Flash may have finally crossed the line.
If they thought they had an Avengers: Endgame moment on their hands, they were sorely mistaken.
Nobody tell them about the Gotham Knights show that’s on its way…
Because that would’ve made too much sense.
Red Death has nothing on The CW itself.
As this Twitter storm indicates, The Flash‘s final season definitely isn’t being received as well as the network might be hoping, although with the Arrowverse essentially defunct and the impending The Flash movie stealing its thunder, the Scarlet Speedster’s small-screen adventures aren’t the be-all-and-end-all of the fans’ world as they once were. For those still invested, new episodes arrive Wednesdays on The CW.
