Much digital ink has been spilled regarding The Gifted, Fox and Marvel’s small-screen drama involving the Struckers, a regular ol’ American family who soon discover that their two children – namely Lauren (Gotham’s Natalie Alyn Lind) and Andy (Percy Hynes White) – boast mutant abilities. Dangerous abilities.
That places them between the crosshairs of some nefarious organizations, who want nothing more but to round up any and all mutants and subject them to gruesome, unspeakable tests. And so, in order to protect their children, Reed and Caitlin Strucker – played here by Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker, respectively – take a leaf out of Logan‘s book and go on the run.
Granted, The Gifted is yet to release, but those fortunate few who have already caught a screening of its premiere episode, “eXposed,” have lumped praise on the X-Men spinoff, and in a bid to keep that momentum ticking over, a fresh batch of photos have surfaced for episode 2, “rX,” in which Polaris (Emma Dumont) goes green.
Polaris may be the main focus of today’s super-stylish gallery, but there’s also a sneak peek at Roderick Campbell (Garret Dillahunt), while Eclipse (Sean Teale) is seen joining forces with Caitlin Strucker, a character whose transformation from suburban mum to underground warrior is arguably one of the more fascinating arcs within Fox’s drama.
Here’s the official, somewhat spoiler-y synopsis for The Gifted:
After exerting her powers beyond their limits, Blink (Jamie Chung, “Big Hero 6,” “The Hangover Part II”) goes into a state of shock, forcing Caitlin (Amy Acker, “Person of Interest”) and Eclipse (Sean Teale, “Survivor”) to go on a mission to find a special serum that will help her to recover. Meanwhile, Reed (Stephen Moyer, “True Blood,” SHOTS FIRED) faces some difficult choices when it comes to helping his family, and Polaris (Emma Dumont, “Bunheads,” “Aquarius”) runs into some trouble in the all-new “rX” episode of THE GIFTED airing Monday, Oct. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Following its long-anticipated premiere on October 2nd, The Gifted will occupy a Monday night slot on Fox for the entirety of its 10-episode run. A second season is said to be on the cards, though neither Marvel nor Fox have announced anything official just yet. Keep your peepers peeled and fingers crossed.
