Netflix and Mike Flanagan’s horror phenom The Haunting of Hill House is returning to the airwaves – but not as you know it.

The Powers That Be today announced an anthology format for the hit series, with The Haunting of Bly Manor expected to air in 2020. It’ll be lifted from the pages of “The Turn of the Screw,” a chilling page-turner from Henry James which focuses on “the novella focuses on a governess who, caring for two children at a remote estate, becomes convinced that the grounds are haunted.”

It’s certainly an interesting premise for The Haunting of Hill House 2.0, and will offer Flanagan and his creative team plenty of opportunities to leave viewers rooted to the edge of their seats – overcome with fear and bone-chilling horror as Bly Manor begins to unveil its many mysteries.

At least, that’s our big takeaway from this eerie teaser trailer(s), which essentially confirms the show’s launch window, its title… and little else.

Providing Netflix and Mike Flanagan stick to this format, we’ll likely be treated to numerous installments of ‘The Haunting of X’, with each new chapter whisking us off to a new location filled with ghostly treats. Of course, there’s the added pressure of Hill House and its own resounding success, meaning Flanagan and Co. have their work cut out if they’re to avoid the dreaded second album syndrome. But based on what we’ve seen so far – in Hill House and beyond – we’re quietly confident.

Entitled The Haunting of Bly Manor, Netflix’s second season will officially air in 2020, so buckle those seatbelts and get ready for another exercise in nerve-shredding terror.
