‘The Marvels’ has already been cast aside in favor of another long-awaited MCU trailer

To be fair, the protagonist in question is known for stealing thunder.

The stage is set to perfection. The first trailer for The Marvels, the MCU’s first team-up film of Phase Five, is due today, Twitter is abuzz with Brie Larson opinions, the inner machinations of Marvel Studios still seem to be in shambles, and the best way it can rope fans back into the “hopeful” camp is by giving us an exciting taste of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan’s incoming cosmic plight.

So what do we do? We think about when we’ll be getting the trailer for season two of Loki, of course.

Indeed, on the eve of a trailer for one of the MCU’s feature length films (a department that Phase Five needs to redeem itself in, no less), the folks of r/marvelstudios somehow managed to shift their attention to the lack of a Loki trailer. It’s unsurprising that it’s evaded us up to now, given that the season seems to be experiencing some delays that are likely due to Jonathan Majors’ uncertain future in the franchise, and at this point we probably shouldn’t expect anything before the summer.

Of course, Marvel fans are no strangers to the practice of speaking things into existence, but we get the distinct feeling that this particular attempt is going to fall flat.

Either way, as delightful as a sneak peek of Loki and Mobius’ next rollicking adventure would be, the Marvel fandom would be wise to be thankful for that which finally is cropping up, from the Secret Invasion trailer to the incoming The Marvels trailer to the imminent release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It might be easy to forget the good in a time of studio debacles, Quantumania failures, and an everpresent tendency to look ahead to the future, but we reckon that a touch of patience will go a long way this year.

The Marvels will release in theaters on Nov. 10, while the second season of Loki is reportedly set for a late August/early September window on Disney Plus.
