The Originals Go Darker In New Season 2 Poster

Not all spinoffs are the stuff that dreams are made of, but for the most part, The Originals has been able to pull off their separation from The Vampire Diaries without skipping a beat. The TVD spinoff wrapped up its freshman season last May, leaving fans wondering what would come next for their favorite New Orleans supernaturals. Today, the latest promo poster (via THR) teases just that with the enticing tagline “Eat, drink and be wary.”

This poster is the first official piece of key art fans have seen for the upcoming season. It features most of the leads seated around a lavish dinner table along with a four-legged guest. Although everyone is dressed to impress, no one is wearing a smile.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is sitting next to his brother, Elijah (Daniel Gillies), with Cami (Leah Pipes) acting as a human buffer. Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) sits arms folded at the opposite end of the table.

If you recall, Klaus and Marcel ended the season with an unexpected reconciliation, but it’ll be interesting to see if they can really co-exist without winding up in another bloody power struggle. Meanwhile, Davina (Danielle Campbell), who was a wild card during most of the first season, sits poised to take on a more mature role in season two. Finally, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) takes up a suggestive position in the front. The new mother and hybrid has her work cut out for her adjusting to all these recent changes, but it looks like she’s making the best of it so far.

Season two picks up three months later and all the characters will be settling into their new roles. Fans also have the unwelcome arrival of Michael, the father of Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah, to look forward to. Naturally, this family reunion has disaster written all over it.

The Originals returns to the CW for Season two on Monday, October 6 at 8/7c.
